Sweet! Free Tires! (Second place in Cyclocross Magazine’s “Spirit of Cyclocross” Essay Contest)

Cycling, Cyclocross, Racing, Sports

We interrupt our regularly scheduled protein and pull-up report to bring you this special announcement…

I took second in Cylcocross Magazine’s "Spirit of Cyclocross" essay contest!  :)  Rad! In addition to having the essay published, I also won a set of bitchin’ ‘cross tires.  Double bonus.  Mad thanks to my friend to the north, Guy Smith, who tipped me off about the contest.

You can read about it here, but the only way to read the essay is to subscribe to the print version of the magazine.  It’s a brand spankin’ new rag, and you’ll be supporting an awesome endeavor.  I got Issue Number One just a month ago and have been sleeping with it ever since.

Sal would be jealous except he is too busy trying to steal it from me while I drool!

;)

    Congratulations!!!

Just make sure they spell check. (wink wink nudge nudge)

But seriously with the spell checking–I once had a poem accepted by a new literary journal that I respected because of the woman who was named poetry editor. I knew she would work hard to bring together a good selection of poems for the innaugural issue. The managing editor, who was responsible for checking the proof of the issue against the original hard copies of poems, stories, and essays, didn’t do such a hot job. My lovely poem wound up appearing in this journal with the most insane and ridiculous spelling errors, line break snafus, and misplaced commas. It was a complete nightmare.

And the quickest way to make THIS Stephanopoulos a Grumpy Greek Girl is to riddle a document with misplaced commas…
